South Korea Has Elected Their First Female Leader

Well, I guess the U.S. isn’t the only country that has voted for change in their presidency recently. It looks like South Korea has opted for a new look to the person that leads their country as well.

And that new face is actually owned by MS. Park Geun-hye!
2012-12-19T154445Z_1_CBRE8BI17QN00_RTROPTP_2_KOREA-ELECTION

As reported on Yahoo.com:

The daughter of a former military ruler won South Korea’s presidential election on Wednesday and will become the country’s first female leader, saying she would work to heal a divided society.

The 60-year old conservative, Park Geun-hye, will return to the presidential palace in Seoul where she served as her father’s first lady in the 1970s, after her mother was assassinated by a North Korean-backed gunman.

With more than 88 percent of the votes counted, Park led with 51.6 percent to 48 percent for her left-wing challenger, human rights lawyer Moon Jae-in, giving her an unassailable lead that forced Moon to concede.
An elated Park reached into the crowd to grasp hands of supporters wearing red scarves, her party’s color.

“This is a victory brought by the people’s hope for overcoming crisis and for economic recovery,” she told supporters at a rally in central Seoul.”

It looks like the cries for change in political structures are being heard across the world. Congratulations goes out to Ms. Geun-Hye. I pray she has a successful 5-year presidency!

God knows she wil need all of the prayer she can get while trying to negotiate peace with

Some Conservatives May Not Survive President Obama’s Re-Election

Posted by Diva Dee on November 14, 2012
Posted in: Political Discussions. Tagged: Conservatives, Mitt Romney, President Obama, Republicans. Leave a Comment

You ever wonder what would happen to the majority when they slowly became the minority and were outnumbered, outvoted, and overruled?

Well, America’s November 6, 2012 re-election of President Barack Obama may have been all that’s needed to find out.

Check out some of the bizarre reaction some rather vocal GOP Conservatives are having to the election results:

1. Obama’s Hired, But You’re Fired

Some of the nation’s CEOs took their frustration out on their employees. Robert Murray, CEO of the coal company Murray Energy, responded to the election by reading a prayer to his employees and then laying off 50 of them. Papa John’s pizza CEO John Schnatter, a donor to Republican loser Mitt Romney, announced that franchise owners will likely have to cut hours for employees in order to pay for the president’s health care law. And Zane Tankel, a New York-based Applebee’s franchisee, said he would halt plans to expand his 40-restaurant empire because the health care law would cost him too much.

2. Burying Gold On The Ranch

Over the weekend, Reuters reported on an emerging job description for a number of financial advisers throughout the country: talking their wealthiest clients off the ledge in the wake of Obama’s win. John Burke, a New Jersey-based financial strategist, described some of the small business owners he works with as “inconsolable.” Houston-based adviser Scott Tiras said a client wanted to turn his assets into gold before the election and bury it in multiple places on his ranch. Tiras managed to talk him out of it, but after the election the client was evidently “too upset to talk about it.”

3. Riots And Racial Slurs

Election Day turned ugly by nightfall at a pair of southern universities. Hundreds of students gathered at the University of Mississippi to riot after the race was called for Obama. Some students hurled racial slurs and burned Obama campaign signs. Eventually local police got involved. There was a similar scene at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia where threats of violence and epithets from about 40 students followed Obama’s win. The chancellor at Ole Miss promised a full investigation, and the next day the more dovish segment of its student body staged a candlelight vigil in response to the election night protestors.

4. Four More Years: S.O.S

A Florida man  said he started to display the American flag upside down the day after the election because he believes “this country is in distress.” Meanwhile, a man in Texas did the same. Both are veterans, but people in their towns have responded to the gestures with anger. The presentation is never permitted under U.S. Flag Code “except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”

5. Are You There, God? It’s WND.

A post-election screed from attorney Larry Klayman was deep in the fringe, even by conservative website WorldNetDaily’s standards. Under the blaring headline “GOD HAS A BIGGER PLAN!,” Klayman searched for divine interpretation of a second Obama term. A Romney victory, he wrote, would have deceptively led the Republican Party to the conclusion that “a Moses had appeared to deliver us out of the Egyptian-like bondage we find ourselves in – thanks to our ‘Mullah in Chief’ and his growing voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others who last Tuesday cemented his destructive hold on the White House and our country.”

6. Lamest Secession Attempt Ever

A GOP official in Texas last week called on his state to separate from the rest of the country and the “maggots” who helped secure a second term for Obama. Meanwhile, semi-anonymous petitions began circulating online for 19 red states to secede. But two prominent conservatives, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) and RedState founder Erick Erickson, called on the wannabe secessionists to end their struggle. “We here at RedState are American citizens. We have no plans to secede from the union,” Erickson wrote on the website. “If you do, good luck with that, but this is not the place for you.”

Because my mother taught me that if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all, I can’t really post my true thoughts. But, at the end of the day GOPers, the PEOPLE voted and Mitt Romney, YOU ARE NOT THE PRESIDENT. I mean do we need to get Maury Povich with an index card to yell it out for you on national TV.

And in case there’s some confusion, he won both the electoral and popular vote…I’m just sayin’!

Election Results

Candidate Popular vote Percentage Electoral votes (270 to win)
Barack Obama 62610717 51% 332
Mitt Romney 59136717 48% 206

Get over it people, President Obama won! Keep it moving, there’s nothing else to see here! Now let’s all work together to get this country back to where it needs to be!

Or Better Yet…

“Give up being a drop and become the ocean! We are far better together than apart!”–Bishop Dale C. Bronner

Idiot Alert: Cleveland Woman Sentenced to Holding An Idiot Sign Serves Her Time

Posted by Diva Dee on November 13, 2012
Posted in: Entertainment/Media Discussions. Tagged: cleveland woman holds idiot sign. Leave a Comment

We’ve all been caught at one time or another behind a school bus while rushing through traffic. But have you ever ridden on the sidewalk to avoid being stuck behind the stopped bus loading or unloading children?

Sounds like an idiotic move, huh?

Well, apparently it was the ‘smart’ thing to do according to Cleveland, Ohio resident, Ms. Shena Hardin.

And according to a Cleveland Municipal Court judge, the idiotic crime was enough to force the accuser to hold up an idiot sign!

As reported on AJC.com:

A woman caught on camera driving on a sidewalk to pass a Cleveland school bus that was unloading children stood in the cold Tuesday at an intersection holding a sign warning people about idiots.

A Cleveland Municipal Court judge ordered 32-year-old Shena Hardin to serve the highly public sentence for one hour Tuesday and Wednesday for the Sept. 11 citation.

The sign read: “Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.”

Lisa Kelley, whose 9-year-old daughter boards the bus which Hardin had been passing on the sidewalk, said the sentence fit the crime.

“She’s an idiot, just like her sign says,” Kelley said as she watched Hardin lean against a fence, her head down and her eyes hidden by dark glasses.

“She did this almost every day last year,” Kelley said. “She won’t stop laughing. She’s not remorseful, she laughed at every court appearance. She’s still laughing, so she needs to be humiliated like this.”
Bill Lipold, 37, who works nearby in the blue-collar neighborhood of older homes and factories, yelled “Why do you hate kids” to Hardin.

He hopes the punishment works. “How else are you going to stop her from doing it again? She really didn’t show remorse for her action after being caught, so you’ve got to try something,” he asked.

Well, looks like Ms. Hardin’s poor judgement has now made her the laughing-stock of the block.   At least for the next two days.

Are You Included In The 47% American Population Mitt Romney Was Referring To?

Posted by Diva Dee on September 20, 2012
Posted in: Political Discussions. Tagged: 2012 election, Mitt Romney, President Obama, Vote. 1 comment

Unless you’ve been hiding from the IRS (well at least 53% of you since the other 47% don’t pay taxes<–RomneyISM), you’ve had no choice but to hear ole Mitt insert his foot in his mouth once again.

It’s not even the asinine comments that have me in an uproar, it’s that he is allowed to speak in a public and private setting to a group of his peers.  So I guess the GOP didn’t learn from the political tragedy in 2008 formerly known as Sarah Palin?

I mean first there was this …

“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what,” Romney says in one clip first posted on Monday afternoon. “There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing.”

And then there was this….

“The president’s view is one of larger government,” Romney said. “There’s a tape that came out today where the president’s saying he likes redistribution. I disagree. I think a society based upon a government centered nation where government plays a larger and larger role, redistributes money, that’s the wrong course for America, that will not build a stronger America, or help people out of poverty.”

I’m all about putting people to work and making sure they aren’t just sitting on the couch waiting to go to the mailbox on the first of every month.  But truth be told, there are a lot of hard-working people who have paid taxes every year up until the moment they were laid off.  Are those the people who Romney feels are just crying victim and waiting on another government bail out?

Do you think either of the families he was suggesting wouldn’t vote for him looked like anyone in the above photo?
Well, let’s do some fact checking and see who Mitt Romney was actually referring to, shall we?

As reported on CNN.com:

– As of June 2011, 49% of Americans received some sort of financial support from the government, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. So that figure has some basis in fact.

– But the number includes more than just people receiving anti-poverty assistance. It also includes Social Security and Medicare, the federal pension and health care programs for seniors — programs that are funded by workers’ payroll taxes and aren’t typically associated with concerns about dependency. It also includes other benefits, such as worker’s compensation or educational assistance for veterans.

– The number of people who qualify for “means-tested” benefits, which require applicants to have incomes below a certain level, was 35.1%, according to the Census Bureau.

– By comparison, when the already-slumping U.S. economy began to nosedive in September 2008, about 24% of U.S. households received means-tested benefits such as welfare or food stamps, according to Census Bureau figures. An April report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office report found that roughly one in seven Americans received food stamps — now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — compared with about one out of 11 in 2007.

As reported on AJC.com:

A July 2011 analysis by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found 44 percent of those who do not pay income taxes got tax breaks for the elderly on such things as Social Security benefits. Another 30 percent used tax credits for children and the working poor such as the child tax credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Georgia closely mirrors the national trend. A 2010 study by the nonpartisan Tax Foundation found that 41 percent of Georgians don’t pay income taxes, the second highest percentage in the country, behind Mississippi. The foundation found higher percentages in states that tend to vote Republican.

So Based on the above data, if you’re elderly, a veteran looking for educational benefits, or hurt your back WHILE WORKING, then you more than likely will not vote for Romney. Except of course if you live in Georgia, the state that has 41% opting out of paying taxes.

Hmmmm….Based on the AJC.com data, I wonder will the people in Georgia swing right this election when it may help them more to swing left according to their OWN Republican Presidential Candidate.

Being that you have the current Commander in Chief leaving comments like this in the media: “My expectation is that if you want to be president, you have to work for everyone, not just for some…” how can you not vote for the guy who wants to help everyone instead of only 53% of the country?

I don’t care what political party you represent, you can’t believe that Mitt Romney is what this country needs.

People, if you don’t do anything else for the rest of the year, please vote! It’s not just a right, it’s your duty as a law-abiding citizen of the U.S. OF A!

Not sure if you’re a registered voter, click here to find out!

Attention Male Weed Smokers: Your Family Jewels May Be In Jeopardy

Posted by Diva Dee on September 14, 2012
Posted in: Entertainment/Media Discussions. Tagged: cannibas, Marijuana, testicular cancer, weed. Leave a Comment

Remember when the late Rick James was singing about a wonderful woman named Mary Jane? Well, looks like Mary Jane may not be the best thing for my brothers who value their family jewels.

Translation: New study shows that marijuana doubles the risk of testicular cancer…KEEP READING!

As reported on LATimes.com:

A new study, published Monday on the website of the medical journal Cancer, reports that men who have testicular cancer are twice as likely to have smoked marijuana before they were diagnosed than control subjects. The association existed only for nonseminomas, the more dangerous form of testicular cancer that is harder to treat.

In the study, carried out in Los Angeles, a team of researchers enrolled 163 men who had been diagnosed with testicular cancer between 1986 and 1991. They also recruited a larger group of control subjects who were matched to the patients on such characteristics as age, ethnicity, and what L.A. neighborhood the subjects lived in at the time they were diagnosed—a localized approach to controlling for socioeconomic status.

The authors of the new study speculate that THC, the active component in marijuana, may be interfering with androgen signaling in the testis, particularly signaling by testosterone. But they say more biological data are needed to definitively determine the mechanism responsible for the increased cancer risk—and to rule out an unseen factor that may be biasing the results of the three epidemiological studies.

I’m sure that most men who smoke weed will probably continue to smoke weed even after reading this alarming study. Being that weed seems to increase heart attacks, unhealthy eating habits (due to the munchies), and now testicular cancer, maybe they will at least consider smoking it a little less?

I know, I know, it comes from the earth so it’s natural, right?

Well, Good Luck and Godspeed Gentlemen!

Two Years Later, Bobby Tillman’s Killers Brought To Justice

Posted by Diva Dee on September 13, 2012
Posted in: Entertainment/Media Discussions. Tagged: Bobby Tillman, Bully. Leave a Comment

Remember when I shared the heartbreaking story of college freshman, Bobby Tillman and others who were senselessly killed at the hands of another? Well two years later, justice has finally been served, at least for Mr. Tillman.

As reported on AJC.com:

The penalty phase begins Thursday in the death penalty trial of  Tracen Franklin, a 20-year-old man convicted of murdering Bobby Tillman two years ago — a crime that drew national attention because of its randomness and viciousness.

So far, two men have been convicted of murdering Tillman — Franklin and Emanuel Boykins, who pleaded guilty last spring to throwing the first punch to avoid a death penalty trial.

Two other suspects, Quantez Devonta Mallory and Horace Damon Coleman, have not yet gone to trial for murder. Douglas District Attorney David McDade is not seeking the death penalty against them.

Tillman, a freshman at Perimeter College in 2010, had been invited to a celebration for two former classmates who had made good grades. The party was to have been small. But word of the gathering spread, and the number of teenagers who descended on the house on Independence Drive swelled to 60 or more before parents shut it down.

Franklin’s attorney, Bruce Harvey, acknowledged that Franklin was part of the attack on Tillman. But there was no intent or malice, he said in his closing argument to the jury Wednesday morning.

“We know Tracen Franklin didn’t start it and we know he didn’t finish it. He’s the guy that ran away while the other people continued to stomp Bobby,” Harvey said. “Tracen Franklin did not deliberately kick the life out of Bobby Tillman.”

Although the young men who took Bobby Tillman’s life too soon are paying for this horrific crime, it still breaks my heart that more young black men are either dead or on their way to jail. The saddest part of all is that Tillman’s mother still has to live with the fact that her son who was following on the right path in life was randomly beat down…And for one simple reason according to his attacker:

“He didn’t do nothing,” Franklin said in the video that was played for the jury. “He didn’t have to do nothing. He was just there.”

Pray for our Youth!

Remembering 9/11: The Story of a Private Love Affair Bonded By A $2 Bill

Posted by Diva Dee on September 11, 2012
Posted in: Entertainment/Media Discussions. Tagged: 9/11, September 11, World Trade Center. Leave a Comment

Photo I captured April 2012 at the 9/11 Memorial

As we take this moment to reflect on the horrific 9/11 tragedies that plagued our country 11 years ago, I felt today was the perfect time to share such a romantic but sad story of a love affair I discovered by visiting the 9/11 Memorial this past spring.

Like myself, I’m sure many of you have heard heart-warming stories of people who found out there loved ones were actually alive and well days after being buried under what was left of the New York Twin Tower Buildings.  But it wasn’t until I had the opportunity to visit the September 11 Memorial and Museum this past April that I discovered the tear-jerking story of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gschaar. Unfortunately,  Mrs. Gschaar was not  like one of those family members who had discovered their loved ones alive and well days after the New York World Trade Center was destroyed by terrorist.  Years after her husband disappeared in the south tower, she would get the confirmation she didn’t want, that her husband would truly never come back to her.

The proof was in the $2 Bill.

As reported on NYTimes.com:

It was the $2 bill that told Myrta Gschaar what she did not really want to know with such certainty: that her husband had been killed at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Long after the attack, Mrs. Gschaar had no tangible evidence. Her husband, Robert J. Gschaar, worked at the Aon insurance company. He called her that Tuesday morning to say that there had been an accident in the north tower. He was safe in the south tower, he reassured her, and would call again once he reached the street. No second call ever came. He simply vanished.

Three or four years passed before a special property recovery unit of the Police Department let her know it had some items she might want. Among them was a wallet. One of the items inside was a $2 Federal Reserve note, serial No. E52521814A.

“The definitive proof that it was her husband was the discovery of the $2 bill,” said Jan Seidler Ramirez, the chief curator of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center.

Before the couple married in 1989, Robert gave Myrta a $2 bill and kept one for himself. They symbolized many things: that this would be the second marriage for both of them, that they were two of a kind, that it would be a second chance for happiness. Receipt of the $2 bill from the police was “what she needed to accept his death,” Ms. Ramirez said.
She donated her husband’s wedding ring, also recovered by the police. Ms. Ramirez recalled her saying: “I don’t need it anymore. I’m eternally wed to him. I want it to be with the $2 bill.”

It’s amazing how the one thing that bonded the Gschaar’s union confirmed that it was eternally torn apart, at least physically anyway. I’m sure there’s not a day that goes by where Mrs. Gschaar doesn’t remember her husband and the loving bond they shared. I pray that like her, other families of this tragic event were able to move on after receiving the confirmation they needed that their loved ones were now looking down on them through heavenly windows patiently waiting for their reunion at their eternal home!

9/11—NEVER FORGET!
